EASTERNPRESSURE RECORDINGS

Midlands based music producer and deejay Juttla has been a driving force on the British Asian music scene ever since he released his debut album in the spring of 1999. The story started back in the early nineties when Juttla started making drum’n’bass. He independently released his own 12” vinyl EP called the 'Dread by Dawn' before going on to record for a string of credible record labels including Channel 5, ZYX Records (Germany), Back 2 Basics Recordings and Second Movement, as well as having two tracks on Aphrodite's superb 'Full Force' mixed CD alongside Kenny Ken, Rob Playford (the founder of Moving Shadow Records) and the legendary producer/actor Goldie.

In 1998 Juttla decided it was time to set up an imprint that could be an outlet for his productions as well as releasing music from like-minded music makers. This would be the birth of his record label Eastern Pressure Records and see the release of his debut album ‘Angels, Aliens & Assassins’. The album was well received by the media and received support from DJ’s Bobby Friction and the 'One In The Jungle’ radio show both on BBC Radio One. Excellent reviews followed in Knowledge Magazine, Breakin' Point and DMC’s Update. Tracks off the album have been licensed to various compilations on labels such as Nation Records and Sub Dub Records and are still being licensed out today! A string of live dates followed as well as supporting Asian Dub Foundation on their UK tour. Juttla was also one of the headliners at a top Midland's music festival where the organisers created a ten by twenty foot billboard poster of Juttla and LATE (the rapper that featured on four tracks on the album) to promote the event!

Juttla bounced back a year later with two superb EP’s for Swaraj Records. Firstly the ‘Breakzploitation EP’ in the summer of 2000 which Mixmag Magazine rated as ‘Leftfield Tune Of The Month’ as well as DJ Magazine and M8 Magazine giving him 5/5 reviews. He then released the amazing ‘Juttfunk EP’ and went on to feature in Wax, Update, Muzik, The Big Issue, Whats On UK and even appeared on the front cover of Eastern Eye Magazine. Juttla then went on to remix such acts as Asian Dub Foundation, Fundamental, Banco De Gaia, Wayward Soul, Tarli Digital, Kam Bhamra, Awia, LATE, Cee-Rock ‘The Fury’ and Charged, making him one of the most consistent producer/remixers in the British Asian music scene.

In 2005 he hooked up with hip-hop label Wolftown Recordings to release his second album ‘Bass, Kicks, Snares, Spits’. This twenty-track CD release saw Juttla mix up his Asian influences with Hip-Hop and urban vibes and featured a superb collection of official remixes alongside his own productions. 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G, Rass Kass, Freeway, Hard Kaur, Saigon, Inspectah Deck from Wu-Tang Clan, JT The Bigga Figga, Pitbull, Slim Thug and many more all made contributions. The album was well received by the worldwide Hip-Hop community and tracks from the album featured on hundreds of mixtapes in the UK and America, as well Juttla getting interviewed for the world’s longest running Hip-Hop magazine HHC.

Juttla is also known on the DJ circuit and has played venues in all over the UK including Wolverhampton, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Leicester, Leeds, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Coventry and playing at the legendary Glastonbury Festival twice! He is also know on the international DJ scene and has rocked dance-floors in Cape Town (South Africa), Amsterdam (Holland), Brussels (Belgium), Paris (France), Warsaw (Poland) and Rome & Sicily (Italy).

Juttla has featured on over a hundred releases and is now set to unleash his third album ‘At War With Satan’ back home on his own label Eastern Pressure Records. The proceedings kick off with his brand new single entitled ‘Dub Dragon’ and with BBC Radio One play already confirmed it looks like 2008 is going to be a big year for Juttla. Diverse, talented, open-minded, the original originator is back… please don’t sleep on Juttla he’s the UK’s best kept secret!!!

‘Charged make marginalised fringe music. Mongrel Punk - for want of a better insulting cliché. But don't let that put you off. You should be paying attention. Because Charged are brilliant’
NME

Harvinder aka Charged has been seen as a musical revolutionary residing in the fringes of alternative music from eclectic mangled beats to punk fuelled chaos since 1990. Lending his skills to a marginalized undercurrent of talent, constantly redefining and reinventing his tradition of Asian. Guesting on collaborations ranging from celtic/dub/asian love ups to the likes of Womad performances, touring Europe, encompassing a diverse genre of music during the 90’s. In 98 he turned his attention to releasing his own brand of noise through Nation Records initial home of artists such as ADF and Talvin Singh. His first EP ‘Indian Gangsta’ received critical acclaim leading to a string of releases on compilations, extensive TV and press coverage and a busy schedule of touring festivals UK and abroad. His album ’Hero’ was released in 2000 on Nation Records again with rave reviews leading to tours and live performances including Glastonbury UK , Exit Serbia and many festivals around Europe. After a break he is now set to release an EP on Eastern Pressure Records entitled Joy Ride. An introductory offering to open mental pathways and to unleash the chaos again. Now signed to Eastern Pressure Records for an EP release as well as being in talks about future releases, Charged will be delivering some quality music in the very near future.
